Coach Code of Conduct

  1. I will place the emotional and physical well-being of my players ahead of a personal desire to win. 

  2. I will treat each player as an individual, remembering the large range of emotional and physical development for the same age group. 

  3. I will do my best to provide a safe playing situation for my players. 

  4. I will promise to review and practice the basic first aid principles needed to treat injuries of my players. 

  5. I will do my best to organize practices that are fun and challenging for all my players. 

  6. I will coach talented and less talented players with equal vigor and allow players fair and equal playing time. 

  7. I will lead by example in demonstrating fair play and sportsmanship to all my players. 

  8. I will refrain from profanity or vulgar language.

  9. I will treat my players, other coaches and players, fans and refs with respect at all times; regardless of race, sex, creed, or abilities, and I will expect to be treated accordingly. 

  10. I will provide a sports environment for my team that is free of drugs, tobacco, and alcohol, and I will refrain from their use at all youth sports events. 

  11. I will be knowledgeable in the rules of each sport that I coach, and I will teach these rules to my players.

  12. I will use those coaching techniques appropriate for each of the skills that I teach. 

  13. I will show respect for the authority of the referee, even though I may sometimes disagree with his or her calls. 

  14. I will not confront referees or other coaches during a game, but rather address any concerns after the game with a league representative or board member. 

  15. I will remember that I am a youth sports coach, and that the game is for children and not adults. 

  16. I will conduct myself with honor and dignity and treat others as I would like to be treated. 

  17. I know that at all times, I represent Bethel Area Youth Soccer Association, my team, my school, and my community.

By participating in the Bethel Area Youth Soccer Program you also agree that if you fail to abide by the aforementioned rules and guidelines, the coach will be subject to disciplinary action that could include, but it not limited to the following:

 

  1. Verbal warning by official (Yellow or Red Card), head coach, and / or Board Member of BAYSA organization 

  2. Written documentation of the event 

  3. Coach game suspension(s) with written documentation of the incident kept on file by the organizations involved 

  4. Coach seasonal suspension

  5. Coach permanent suspension
